After receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Alfred University, Emrys went on to work as a glass artist and designer. Throughout his career he has focused on adaptations of 17th-century-Italian-glass-making techniques and mid-century modern design practices stemming from Italy and Scandinavia. For over two decades Emrys has worked with artists, designers and educators to produce a wide range of decorative and functional objects including lighting, furniture, table objects and fine art. Emrys concurrently demonstrated, educated and performed glass making at glass institutions including The Corning Museum of Glass, Wheaton Village, and Urban Glass. This focus naturally led Emrys towards an interest in interiors, furniture, lighting design and fabrication, and In 2007, he co-founded TOKEN, a New York-based design studio that merges contemporary art and industrial design.
In 2015, Emrys left TOKEN and founded TOKENLIGHTS in order to focus his attention directly on lighting and table objects.
